The following students Hemi Kawhena-Ruakere, Ihaka Te Awe Awe-Wall, Michael Papanui, Kaea Taylor, Mikaere Tipene, Dontane Stanshall, Ihinga Mar, Sayj Emery-Kiingi and Andy Yuan are here in Auckland to support our head boy, Te Ariki Te Puni, at the National finals of the Race Unity Speech Competition.  Twenty one contestants from throughout the country presented speeches at the National semi-finals held this evening at St. Columba centre in Ponsonby.

Te Ariki has been selected in the top six and will now compete in the National finals being held tomorrow at Te Mahurehure Marae.

Upon arrival in Auckland the boys heard from Leonie Ropiha, the Maori Recruitment Officer within the faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Auckland University. Her message was consistent and clear.  "Ensure you are taking the required approved subjects to allow you to take a pathway in the health sciences".
