All the best to Year 13 student Campbell Stewart, who departs tomorrow to build up for the Junior World Track Cycling Championships in Switzerland.  At assembly this morning Campbell presented the school with one of his ‘Rainbow’ jerseys – a symbol of the two World Championship titles he won in 2015.

First Campbell will compete in an international track cycling competition in Melbourne, before moving to Cambridge to complete his build up.  The 12 person New Zealand team departs for Switzerland on July 10, and the world championships take place from the 20th to 24th July.  While the events that Campbell will compete in at the world championships are not yet confirmed, he is hoping to ride in the Team Pursuit, Omnium and Keirin.  In 2015 Campbell was the only male rider selected to represent New Zealand at the Junior World Championships, consequently no entry was possible in the Team Pursuit.  He is excited about the prospect of riding in the pursuit this year as it is an event contested at Olympic level, although this does preclude him from defending his world title in the Scratch Race.

Good luck Campbell, we look forward to monitoring your progress.
