Manawatu Secondary Schools Canoe Polo Competition 2016

PNBHS had five teams entered in this competition. Three teams in Division 2 and two teams in Division 1.

Round robin games were played during Terms 2 and 3, culminating in a finals nights Monday and Tuesday this week.

Teams 4 and 5 played off against each other for ninth and tenth position in Division 2 on Monday evening. These were almost all new players this season, the improvement in canoe and ball handling over the season was pretty fantastic. Team four took out the win 5 to 4.

Tuesday night saw our three top teams play their finals.

First up was our Division 1 development team 2 playing St Peters 1 for third and fourth place. An outstanding fast game, St Peters came out on top so a fourth placing in Division 1 this year .

Up next was team three playing for first and second in Division 2. PNBHS 3 vs PNGHS 2. Another thrillingly close game the first half, our boys got on top and extended their lead to 8-4.

An outstanding win to PNBHS 3 top of Division two. Only one loss all season. Congratulations.

The final game of the season came down to the battle between PNBHS Development 1 vs FHS 1.

Fielding fielded this seasons third place team from Nationals. They had won all games they played this season. Each time PNBHS played them we certainly challenged them.

The game was an absolute thriller. The scores stayed even up till full time 5-5.

Extra time was played, unfortunately Fielding were able to capitalise on an error and were able to score.

Second place for PNBHS, a gallant effort by all the boys. The future is looking rosy for PNBHS Canoe Polo.
