Manawatu Secondary Schools Swimming Champoionships.

On Saturday 8th March the Manawatu Secondary School Swimming Championships were held at Freyberg Pool.

PNBHS were represented by 23 swimmers. Once again, we were completely dominant in the Manawatu.

On points alone were totalled 400 points, where the closest rival totalled 173.

40 first placings

24 second placings

15 third placings

Overall, a dominating performance by the boys with nine Manawatu Secondary School records were broken.

Individual record breakers were:

Michan Hunter: breaking the 200m back by 2 seconds

Ryan Cutler: breaking the 200m backstroke record by ten seconds, the 50m back and the 100m back by a considerable margin

Xavier Hill: 200m butterfly by 11 seconds, the 100m breast by 2 seconds (also breaking the school record) and the 100m individual medley (breaking the school open record).

The team also set record times in the relay events, breaking the long lasting medley relay,  which dated back to 1998, by 3 seconds, and being the first team in the Manawatu to break the 2 minute mark. The team also broke the freestyle relay record by 1 second.

Looking to their future competitions, this puts us in good stead to perform well at the North Island Secondary School level.
