PNBHS FRENCH LANGUAGE & CULTURE TOUR 2017

We hope the young men and staff on the PNBHS French Language and Culture Tour are enjoying themselves and learning through their experiences in France.

ITINERARY:

MONDAY 10 APRIL - Depart Palmerston North for France.

TUESDAY 11 APRIL - Arrive in Paris
- 1 hour Bateaux-Mouches Seine cruise
- The cruise will end close to the Eiffel Tower where they will ascend the tower for panoramic views of Paris in the early evening (6.00pm to be confirmed).

WEDNESDAY 12 APRIL - Full day of sightseeing to include Notre-Dame (free entry), Les Invalides, the Panthéon and Jardin du Luxembourg (free entry).

THURSDAY 13 APRIL - Full day of sight-seeing - today will include a morning tour of Stade de France followed by a visit to Basilica Cathedral of Saint Denis with the afternoon being spent at Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre.

FRIDAY 14 APRIL - This morning you will make your way to the Louvre and then later today you will head to Musée de l’Orangerie and Jardin des Tuileries.

SATURDAY 15 APRIL - Another full day of sightseeing to include the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, Galeries Lafayette & Musée d’Orsay.

SUNDAY 16 APRIL - Today you will visit Palais de Versailles and its magnificent gardens.

MONDAY 17 APRIL - You will be collected from your accommodation and will travel by coach to the commune of Treigny. Upon arrival in Treigny you will enjoy some time at the 13th century castle reconstruction of Guédélon.

TUESDAY 18 APRIL - After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and travel by coach to the city to Tours. Most of the day will be free to explore the city.

WEDNESDAY 19 APRIL - Today you will enjoy a Châteaux tour to include Chenonceau, Amboise and Chaumont-sur-Loire.

THURSDAY 20 APRIL - TOURS / TARBES / VIC EN BIGORRE -
You will check out of your accommodation and make your way to Tours station for your travel via train to Tarbes (via Bordeaux St Jean. Upon arrival in Tarbes you will be met by your hosts who will look after you for the next six nights of your tour.

FRIDAY 21 APRIL - TUESDAY 25 APRIL - Homestay

WEDNESDAY 26 APRIL - You will farewell your hosts this morning and make your way to Tarbes station for your journey to Hirson. Upon arrival in Hirson, you will be met by your hosts who will be looking after you for the next six nights.

THURSDAY 27 APRIL - At 8.00am you will go to school with your homestay family and will be given an official school welcome and visit at 9.00am. At 10.30am you will depart school for the Town Hall to arrive in time for your Mayoral Welcome at 11.00am. You attend a lunch at 12.30pm and then head back to school at 2.00pm this afternoon. At the end of the school day at 6.00pm you will return home with your host families.

FRIDAY 28 APRIL - 8.00am to 6.00pm – Chemin des dames

SATURDAY 29 APRIL - SUNDAY 30 APRIL - Homestay

MONDAY 01 MAY - Today you will visit Guise

TUESDAY 02 MAY - At 8.00am you will go to school and then visit fortified churches at 9.00am. Lunch will be at 12.30pm and then you will farewell your hosts at 3.30pm and take the afternoon train from Hirson to Lille Flandres. Upon arrival at Lille Flandres you will make your way to your hotel where you will stay for the last night of your tour.

WEDNESDAY 03 MAY - After breakfast you will check out of your rooms and make your way by train to Charles de Gaulle Airport for your flights back to New Zealand.

THURSDAY 04 MAY - On arrival at Hong Kong Airport, after completing customs and immigration formalities at Hong Kong Airport, you will be met by a local guide and taken for a half day Tour of Hong Kong Island.

The tour includes a ride the World’s steepest funicular railway up to the Victoria Peak for a panoramic splendor view of the city. Then proceed to the "Floating Village of Aberdeen" a place famous for its "fishing folks" who spend most of their time on their boats and only rarely come to shore - afterwards a scenic ride along the shores of Hong Kong South.

After then, returning to Kowloon Waterfronts for a view of Hong Kong Island and enjoy a traditional Chinese Dim Sum Lunch at hotel restaurant. After lunch, you will have some free time to explore the Tsimshatsui area and Nathan Road on your own.

In the evening, you will be collected from an appointed place and time and transferred to the Airport for your onward flight.

FRIDAY 05 MAY - Arrive in Palmerston North
