Two pools of 3 teams competed in the St Pats Classic in the last weekend of the school holidays.

Game 1 Vs Rongotai College
PNBHS were guilty of taking their opposition too lightly early on. Rongotai punished us from outside the paint and
deservedly led 14 - 27 at quarter time. The Prem A defended well in the second quarter and Rongotai's shooting fell away. Rangimarie Mita led the offensive charge and we went into half time down 41 - 42. PNBHS pulled away to be up by 15 at 3/4 time and went on to win 78 - 66.  Callum McRae, Haize Walker, Tama Faamausili and Rangimarie Mita all scored in double figures and Callum got 10 rebounds.

Game 2 Vs Wellington College
Another slow start meant the Prem A had to battle back into the game. The game was tied up at 58 - 58 at the end of the 3rd 1/4 but PNBHS went on to win 67 - 57. Haize Walker scored 15 points and Callum McRae scored 20
points with 12 rebounds.  PNBHS finished top of their pool to set up a semi final with NPBHS. This was a game between two of the top 3 teams at Nationals last year.

Semi final Vs New Plymouth Boys'
The Prem A were very focused for this game and won every quarter but a big 23 - 8 second quarter put the game beyond doubt. The bench made the most of their opportunities with Kobe Chapman and Mikaera Marsh having good games, both scoring in double figures. Final score was 82 - 49 win.

Final vs St Pats College
St Pats College were zone 3 regional winners last year and are tipped to be the best Wellington team in 2017. PNBHS got out to an early lead but the local crowd cheered every point St Pats got and they responded by never giving up. PNBHS led 18 - 6 at the end of the first quarter. Although the score ebbed and flowed, PNBHS stayed comfortably in front and won 59 - 47. Callum McRae scored 16 points.

A satisfying set of results with plenty to work on.
