1st XV vs Hastings Boys High School

The 1st XV travelled up to Hastings to play the team widely regarded as the best in New Zealand.  Confidence was high after a pleasing last six weeks and the team was excited about playing such an outstanding team.  However once the whistle blew, the actions did not match the sentiments.  In what was one of the most complete 1st XV displays ever seen, the Hastings team were simply far too good.  Helped by a massive missed tackle count, the opposition players played with a clinical edge that placed us under immense pressure and we were disappointingly unable to respond in kind.  The final score of 100-0 will go down in history as the biggest ever against the PNBHS 1st XV and as a team, it certainly is not a record we are proud of.  As a team we know we have let PNBHS Rugby and its community, old boys included, down.  We also know that our only option now is to make it right through our actions over the remainder of the season, starting with the Super Eight fixture against Hamilton this weekend.  As our first home game in seven weeks, we look forward to getting back onto the Number One and putting in a performance that reflects who we are as a team.
