On Friday the 25th of August, 52 Year 10 Accelerate Geography students embarked on a trip to Napier to learn more about the devastating Hawkes Bay Earthquake of 1931 that killed 258 people. The trip involved a visit to the local museum, a walk around the Napier CBD and a bus trip visiting Bluff Hill and the mass burial site located at Park Island. The information obtained from this field trip will be used to support the students understanding of the causes and effects of earthquakes in New Zealand and act as a reminder that New Zealand, due to it's location, will always be vulnerable to immense forces of nature.
