PNBHS Wins New Zealand Secondary School Badminton Nationals Div 2
Despite the setback of just missing out on competing in this year's Division 1 due to lack of individual Under 19 Badminton competitions in the Central Region, the Senior A team regrouped and decided to try to win the Division 2 title this year.
In the early group stages, Palmerston North Senior A beat Tauranga BC and Hutt Valley High 5-1 and Wanganui High and Waitaki Boys (Oamaru) by 6-0 to top Group A of the competition. The Senior B also performed very well to top Group D.
In the knock-out stages, the Senior A team continued to dominate the other teams with 5-1, 6-0 and 5-1 victories over Auckland Grammar 2 (quarter-finals), Palmerston North Boys’ Senior B (semi-finals) and Burnside High (finals).
Overall, both teams performed extremely well with the Senior B finishing 4th and the Senior A being crowned the champion of NZ Secondary Schools Div 2 for 2017.
