CANOE POLO

Kiwi Club U15 Tournament, 14 October 2017, Palmerston North

Over the weekend, two teams from PNBHS competed against other schools and provinces in an U15 Canoe Polo Competition. Team Black was the existing Junior National Team that competed at the start of the year and Team White was a composite team made up from Teams 3-6.

For Team White it was a baptism of fire as it was, for most of them, their first major tournament. Even though they were defeated in several of their games, their confidence and ability on the water grew with each game. Their last game was their best of the whole weekend and resulted in a well-deserved win against a spirited Hawkes Bay side to finish 5th in the tournament.

For Team Black, there was an expectation of them placing well, but they were going to be up against some unfamiliar teams. The team managed to keep themselves out of trouble and win all of their round robin games to progress through to the finals against St Peter's. Things looked grim when St Peter's took an early 3 nil lead, simply due to uncontested turnovers. Team Black eventually got themselves together and edged out the winners over St Peter's to take the tournament win.

Well done to both teams for their game attitude and presenting the school in a good light and thanks to the parents on the day supporting their sons.
