Dramafest has again been a very successful event though increased numbers of students has meant a longer season!!

It began strongly with two entertaining performances of Niu Sila by Level 2 students. Standout performances came from Ben Orwin-Higgs, Sheridan Smitham and James French. Several students new to Drama ts year showed considerable development including Caleb Friedman, Harrison Mackenzie and Harrison Jones. Ethan Tiffen was perhaps the most improved actor.

Level 3 students performed two nights of Shuriken, exploring the events surrounding the infamous “incident” at Featherston’s Japanese POW camp in 1943. For the first time, one night was student-directed: Year 13 student Ed Reilly continued s path towards a career in media and directing by taking the artistic reins for an engaging Tuesday night performance. Top performances came from Cam Wte, Connor Skoglund, Manaaki Todd and Mitchell Alexander.

The Cards of Fate was presented by both Year 10 classes as a formative assessment. A number of young men stepped onstage for the first time and learnt a lot! Strong performances came from Nathan Holdsworth, Dom Oliver, Scott McCready, Ethan Lawton, Ben Mikkelson, Kahu Williams, Jayden Knaap, and Sam Meek.

Mrs Baines’s Level 1 class gave two excellent performances of Twelve Angry Men with Darragh Hunter, Kiata O’Sullivan, Solomon Gray, Ricki Sharratt and Robert Bruce leading the pack.

In Mr Greer’s Animal Farm a number of young men trod the boards for the first time so, again, development was the order of the day. Micaiah Hunt was exceptionally strong and well-supported by Antonio Sami.
