Mountain Bike Success for Adam Francis
Year 9 student Adam Francis has picked up both New Zealand and Oceania titles in the last couple of weeks.
On Saturday, March 19, Adam competed at the New Zealand Cross Country Mountain Biking Championships and placed first in the under 15 category. This event was held in Wanaka and involved a course on Cardrona ski field.
On Easter Sunday Adam returned to the South Island, this time to Queenstown, where he raced in the Oceania Championship. This course was around the Queenstown gondola and Adam was again first in the under 15 category. "Adam had a bad start - he was 20 seconds down but recovered and took the win by just less than 2 minutes. Adam is very happy to hold that title and really enjoyed mixing with all the elite athletes and learning from them."
