COMMERCE TOUR TO AUSTRALIA 2018

Day 3 Report by Davis Farrar-Ferguson, Alexander Gale, and William Wood:

We set off at 7.50am bound for Monash University, the largest and one of the most prestigious in Australia. Monash was an amazing eye opener for the lads, seeing such an incredibly large university campus with a population over half the size of Palmy itself! After an insightful presentation of what Monash offers in the business department (and what it costs - $25k), we got into a marketing workshop. We analysed different sorts of people and what sort of products we should target at them. It gave us all an insight into how marketing is targeted and structured. We then had a tour of the truly impressive, modern campus that is Monash, before heading off to our second university for the day.

The second university was Swinburne University. We had a brief tour of the campus, which ended with a presentation from two Old Boys and a business professor who had all been in the UK previously. One of the Old Boys recommended Victoria, even though he worked at Swinburne.

Lastly, we walked casually towards the seven-level shopping centre. We arrived at the shopping centre to get ready for an epic game of laser tag. Greens vs Blues. Green won the first round and blue won the second. We concluded the evening with a healthy dosage of pizza, hotdogs and chips. Ironically, it wasn’t enough food, so the majority of us went to McDonalds for dessert. With our bellies full, we retreated back to YHA.
