Conditions were fine but a strong wind meant placings not times were vital to make finals. A small team of seven obtained the following results.
Junior U16: Guy Peterson displayed good technique to win the Javelin with a throw of 47m 91cm. He displayed good temperament in challenging conditions. A top performance to win a national championship.
Liam Wall made the final in the 1500m finishing 7th in 4 mins 30.77 secs. A pleasing performance.
Senior U20: Jack Nesdale adapted well to finish 8th in the Discus – 43m 41cm in testing conditions. A top effort.
Bradyn Popow displayed good technique to finish 4th in 15mins 46.64 secs, a quality effort against a top field in the 3000m Walk.
Mark Seumanu finished 13th in the High Jump with a jump of 1m 75cm.
Andre Le Pine-Day finished 9th in the 1500m in a time of 4 mins 08.1 sec, while Benjamin Wall finished 13th with a time of 4 mins 23 secs. Both Andre and Benjamin have been hampered by injury in recent weeks.
4 x 4m relay team of: Mark Seumanu, Andre Le Pine-Day, Liam Wall and Benjamin Wall finished 11th with a time of 3 mins 41 secs to gain valuable experience for the future.
Once again, school athletes can perform well if you train well and adapt to conditions.
