Young men who struggle in their academic studies may be offered a place in the Learning Support Programme.
Student numbers are deliberately kept low in the learning support classes and extra assistance is offered to these young men in numeracy and literacy, with two teachers in English and Mathematics classes in Year 9. This programme helps to ensure the young men involved are successful in gaining NCEA qualifications and there is a specific emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
Mentoring programmes in the senior school, where selected
teachers work with small groups of students, provide additional support to
