Leadership Week - Day 4 - Friday 8 July - Mrs Sally Duxfield

Sally Duxfield is the owner and Director of Contact N.Z. Ltd, a leadership consultancy that teams up with various consultants designing and delivering Leadership Development programmes that are specifically designed for her clients. Her corporate programmes are designed to meet the needs of individual organisations and they are delivered in the ‘outdoor’ environment of Makahika OPC using experiential learning techniques. Sally’s specialty area is the psychology of forming high performance teams understanding personality styles and developing situational leadership to meet the needs of individuals. Contact N.Z. Ltd also specialises in the introduction of Equity Programmes and the investigation into allegations of harassment and discrimination in the work environment. 

Sally owns and Directs Makahika Outdoor Pursuit Centre based in the Tararua Ranges behind Levin, in the lower North Island. Summer days are filled with children visiting Makahika for their EOTC experiences, or undertaking residential experiential learning courses. Her winter months are used to provide residential courses for Youth Justice clients; young men between the age of 14 & 17 yrs – who participate in a “Men of Character” 10-14 day programme. It is these lads who hold Sally’s passion and heart. Many young men in the audience today will know of Mrs Duxfield (or Aunty Sally) from their experiences on Tama Tu Tama Ora, which this year will have seen more than 300 young men from this school complete the 14 day challenge over the last seven years. 

Mrs Duxfield also lectures nationally, and covers subjects related to Ethics in Leadership, Forming High Performance Teams, and Leadership of diverse groups. 

Mrs Duxfield has a 21 year old daughter Emma-Kate who is studying at Massey University. Her husband, John is a retired RNZAF Pilot. The ex-Group Captain is a member of the Makahika OPC team and he specialises in Duke of Edinburgh Programme courses. He is also a published author of fiction stories.
