1st XV Rugby Match Report:

The 1st XV lined up to play their New Plymouth counterparts on the famous Gully ground in relatively fine conditions yesterday. After a nervous start from both sides the 1st's settled into their work and made some promising play on the back of some hard running and some good decisions at the base of the ruck. Lee Thomson opened the scoring with a well taken try down the blind before Ben Werthmuller continued s fine form with a well taken wingers try, and Shadyn Osgood scored a strong try smacking through two would be defenders in the process. The half-time score was 19-0 to us and the team felt they had gained dominance at the breakdown.

The second half saw New Plymouth Boys' earn time in our 22 and we defended well against their strong pick and go and one off runners. We scored four more tries in the second half, three of them from set piece moves including a long range scrum try to Jackson Ferris wch began on our own 5 metre line for a 45-0 score line. As a team we were proud of our offense and the intent shown by the backs to move the ball but most importantly the defence showed great heart to hold the home team scoreless in front of their school.

Next game is against St Pat's Silverstream next Wednesday in what is an eagerly awaited game.
Points Scorers: Tries - Jackson Ferris (2), Shadyn Osgood (2), Taylor Transom, Lee Thomson, Ben Werthmuller
Conversions - Taylor Transom (5)

1st XI Football Match Report:

Boys High 1st XI played New Plymouth Boys' High in the annual inter-school fixture, winning 2-0. Boys High started well and controlled most facets of the game. They maintained ts pressure for most of the 1st half, scoring through a Blake Koolen tap in. In the 2nd half, Boys' High kept up the pressure, finally finding the back of the net with a nice tap in from Jack Gleeson. Despite having further chances, the game ended up at 2-0.

The win secures a place in the Nationals tournament later in the year.

1st XI Hockey Match Report:

The PNBHS 1st XI hockey team beat New Plymouth BHS 4-1 as part of the interschool exchange played in New Plymouth yesterday (18th June 2014).

The first fifteen minutes of the match was evenly contested, both sides containing a number of Central age group representative players and the hockey played was of a gh standard. PNBHS then started to dominate the match with good shots on goal and they were awarded a number of penalty corners. However, it wasn’t until two minutes before half time that Hayden Pllips scored from a penalty corner variation to give the side a 1 nil half time lead. The second half started well for PNBHS, scoring two quick goals inside the first five minutes, a second (brace) to Hayden Pllips and one to Jason Peel. Players were then rotated on a regular basis and in the last five minutes of the match, New Plymouth scored a breakaway goal to wch Aaron Purser immediately replied for PNBHS to give them the 4-1 win.

Particularly pleasing was the good solid team effort, with good early passes thrown most of the time and some sound defending by the defensive players.

Premier A Basketball Match Report:

The Prem A team started positively in their interschool fixture. Early pressure was applied and the team knew that anytng short of their best effort would result in a heavy loss to a very strong New Plymouth team. They trailed 13-20 at 1/4 time & 21-45 at half time. A superb start to the 3rd 1/4 saw the Prem A team get an 8 point run and they denied New Plymouth any points for the first 4 & 1/2 minutes of the 1/4. Boys High won the 3rd 1/4, 12-11, trailing 33-56 heading into the final 1/4.

The final score was a 50-81 loss and, although it was a big loss, the team played well and know what they need to work on heading to regionals next month.
