VIVA LA DOLCE VITA

- HELPS FUNDS THE RENAISSANCE TOUR TO ITALY 2017 -

Italy has given the rest of the world so much over the centuries: from art to history to music. On a slightly more frivolous note, some might say La Dolce Vita (“the sweet life”) is the greatest Italian gift of all.

Think sunshine, beautiful towns steeped in history, spectacular scenery, olive trees and lemons.  Think long, lazy lunches on a vine-wrapped terrace, passing plates to friends and relatives, chatting as you share the fresh, tasty dishes so well known to us as Italian cuisine. La Dolce Vita, indeed.

Think that the pleasures of the table on a Palmerston North evening will help 24 students experience the real Italy and all its glories; made possible by your generosity.  Molto bene.

Caterer, cook-book author and cooking school guru Ruth Pretty will share her secrets as she demonstrates eight delicious yet perfectly achievable ‘long Italian-style lunch’ that you will be able to make at home.

What’s more, you can ask Ruth questions and relax as she multitasks, tells stories and engages with members of the audience as the whim takes her.

On the food front think about reproducing at home Balsamic Chicken with Caramelised Lime, Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella and Basil Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette and Tiramisu Gateau among other plates of deliciousness.

As their teacher and trip leader Ken Benn says, “This trip will expand their worldview in a way that can never be accomplished in the classroom.”

The students will spend four weeks exploring the country and studying the Renaissance period – music, art, history, science and literature.

What an outstanding experience for these students - and you can help by simply supporting the demonstration as you enjoy your own La Dolce Vita moments. Arriverderci!
