Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award - Tramp Report:

During the long weekend, two Palmerston North Boys’ High School Students (Elliot Tuck and Hamish Taylor) completed the Southern Tararua Crossing as their practice tramp for the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award alongside three students from other schools.

The trip was physically demanding with many issues being faced along the way. But the long-term impact of the tramp was greater than blistered feet as the young men involved truly devolved their character and leadership ability through adversity.

The Duke of Edinburgh award takes many years to complete and involves a lot of extra-curricular involvement with a real emphasis on personal development. Any students, in year ten or above, who are interested in enrolling for the Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award please see Mr. Jochem in C3 for more information.
