  • Smallbore Shooting

    What it's all about

Update: Vaccine pass is no longer required. Still spots available in 4, 5, and 5.30 squads if you wish to join.

Small Bore Rifle Shooting is a safe and competitive sport that involves shooting .22 calibre long barrel rifles.

When first starting off, shooters will learn to shoot on a support. This is where the rifle is rested on a wooden box and the shooter ‘only’ has to aim down the sights. When the shooter demonstrates a high level of competency and consistency, they will have the box removed and replaced with an arm support (sling).

Shooting will commence on the 4th May (week 1, Term 2) for new shooters (11th May for everyone) and will be held on Wednesdays from 4pm at the Totara Road Range. The final night of shooting will be on the 7th of September (week 7, Term 3)

Shooters will be organised into squads which will shoot at a set time each week (4, 4.30, 5.00 and 5.30). Students should go see Dr Bland in C7 once they have payed their registration fee (see below) to sign up for a specific squad.

All gear is supplied and is included, along with the cost of ammunition, range hire and targets, in the cost of $125. This cost must be paid to the finance office before the first shoot.

Shooters must wear a mask when not shooting (these are the MRSA rules for use of the range).
