Chess Club
The PNBHS Chess Club attracts a large number of students, in both the junior and senior school. Every Wednesday and Friday throughout Terms 1-4, lunchtimes in P5 are buzzing with activity, whether it be serious preparation for Regionals or a fun match of two versus two transfer. Each year, we participate in the following competitions:
- Super 8 Chess, which takes place during the Super 8 Cultural Festival exchange. The A team represents the school at this annual fixture
- The Manawatu Regional Chess Competition - which sees us entering up to 5 or 6 teams sometimes, depending on the size of Chess Club.
- The National Chess Competition where our A-Team represents the school if they have been selected through Regionals.
