2016 International Competitions and Assessments for School (ICAS) Science Competition
This year two hundred and ninety-five Palmerston North Boys’ High School students sat the annual ICAS Science Competition. Of these students, one student namely, Paul Kaiser (year 9) received a High Distinction grade. This student is in the top 1% of all the students who sat this test within New Zealand and the Pacific region. Congratulations to Paul who has obviously mastered the scientific skills and the content knowledge required for these ICAS tests. Thirty-two students received Distinction awards and this equates to being within the 94th percentile of all schools tested. Sixty-seven Credit grades (85th percentile within PNBHS) were also awarded this year. The remainder of the students obtained Merit and Participation certificates. Every student should be commended for one, participating in the competition and two, for trying to extend themselves in terms of Science. They obviously have a love for Science at all levels and it is their inquiring mind and sense of competition, which makes them go out of their way to sit the extension opportunities that our school has to offer. Well done and we hope to see you all participating again next year!
