At assembly this morning Year 10 student Zac Maskill was presented with a certificate to recognise his first place in the Year 10 Solo category of the Dance New Zealand Made competition.

Zac is a young man who has fully involved himself in school life.  He is heavily involved in Junior Musical Theatre – currently working on their upcoming production ‘Newsies’ – and the Year 10 Concert Band, where he plays the trumpet.  Through the Music Department Zac takes trumpet and voice lessons, and was involved in the 2017 senior production of Footlosse, where he was the understudy to the lead role.

Zac is also a keen and talented sportsman, and this year was part of the PNBHS under 14 A Rugby team that won the Youth 2 grade, and was subsequently selected in the Manawatu under 14 Rugby representative team.  He is also involved with the PNBHS Taekwon Do club.

Zac has worked hard to earn and maintain a place in the Accelerate Programme, so has a challenging academic workload, which includes sitting NCEA Level One this year.

Outside of school Zac competes in a range of solo and group dance competitions in Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap and Crew (Street Dance).  Early in term four he is completion in the Performing Arts Competitions Society of New Zealand competition in the group section.  We wish Zac all the best in the very wide range of activities he is involved in.  #PNBHSpeople
