On Tuesday afternoon the Manawatu Schools Water Polo Competition started at the PNBHS pool. This is the first time in 10 years that a Water Polo competition has been run in the Manawatu area. The competition has 10 teams, with 5 of those being from PNBHS.

The PNBHS Water Polo Dolphins beat the PNBHS Turtles 6-5 and the PNBHS Seals beat the PNBHS Penguins 12-2.

The games are being refereed by the Premier A players, who also assist in coaching the PNBHS teams. The Premier A team will continue to travel to Wellington to play each Thursday night. They started the Wellington league in outstanding fashion with a 17-2 victory over St Pat's Silverstream.

With just over 50 players from PNBHS playing in this competition, plus the 10 Premier A team members, the sport is in a major growth phase. Judging by the quality of play on Tuesday, the future of the sport at PNBHS is very bright.
