1ST XI CRICKET VS PARAPARAUMU COLLEGE

For the first qualifier of the NZSS Boys' 1st XI Cup, PNBHS travelled to the scenic Kena Kena Park in Paraparaumu Beach. After winning the toss and electing to bat on a used pitch, an early wicket informed the batsmen that care would need to be taken. A solid 65 run stand for the second wicket between Curtis Heaphy and Craig Lawrence set up the innings nicely but a combination of bad luck and tentative shot-making saw the 1st XI advancing the score in fits and starts. They persevered however and were able to post a score of 225 all out with one ball to go. Logan Love scored 22, Curtis Heaphy 36, Sam Russell 41 and Craig Lawrence 47.

The opposition started aggressively, but the introduction of Finn Martin and Bryn Wilson applied the brakes and, with some good fielding and catching, Paraparaumu were soon reeling at 53 for 6. The introduction of leg-spinner Hugo Wakeling to mop up the tail proved to be too much for the opposition and they capitulated for 80 off 32 overs.  Hugo took 3 for 14 and Bryn Wilson 3 for 11 as PNBHS won by 145 runs.

The 1st XI will now host Rathkeale College on a date to be decided.
