Clay Target Shooting - Murray Luke Memorial Shoot

12 of our shooters attended the Murray Luke Memorial Shoot in Taupo on Thursday 10 May – our traditional ‘kick start’ to the season. With around 180 shooters, the only shoots bigger are the Island and National Championships. The A team suffered a case of feast and famine. In the first event of the day (single rise), they smashed the targets and posted a very impressive 98 / 100. The B team were not too far behind on 89.

Then came the teams event (points score), where each target is scored out of three, rather than the usual one. Here the wheels completely fell off. It is worth noting that the B team pipped the A’s.

There were some very pleasing individual efforts. The most noteworthy being A team Vice-Captain Henry Bennik, who was outright winner for the day, and Jack Gibbs (B team Captain) who was second.
