Thank you to Constable Matt McFlynn who has spoken to young men in Year 12 and Year 13 at assembly over the last two mornings.  Constable McFlynn’s presentations were timed to coincide with the lead up to the school ball and covered a range of topics pertinent to young men.  He emphasised the responsibility that young men have to look after their ball dates and ensure that they have a safe evening, and in particular that they get home safely after the ball.  Constable McFlynn also emphasised respectful relationships and the importance of trust in relationships.  He encouraged our young men to remember their personal values and the school values, and to be guided by these in their decision making.  As young adults, students are in a situation where they are making adult decisions around such things as consent, the consumption of alcohol and their behaviour when driving.  Constable McFlynn emphasised that a poor decision as a young person can result in being labelled negatively for life and urged our young men to consider “how you want to be perceived and labelled by your parents, family and peers.”
