The 'No Frets' string trio of Ray Su, Ciaran Carroll and Paul Teoh were one of a number of groups competing at the Manawatu Institute of Registered Music Teachers Ensemble Competition which was held last weekend. In a very high calibre competition, the trio were adjudged the overall winners and received the Barrett Trophy. This is a fitting end to a highly commended at the Regional Chamber Music Competition earlier in the year. As the young men are all Year 11 students, there is a promising future for the ensemble.
