REPORTS

Day 1 Report by Jacob Ammundsen and Tom Arbuckle:

On Saturday 29 September, we all met at school ready for a day of travel. We got on our bus to Wellington, stopping at Paraparaumu on the way for a quick lunch. Once we got to Wellington Airport, we checked our bags and headed through Customs to board our 4 hour plane ride to Melbourne, Australia.

We arrived in Melbourne at 5.30pm local time and got a bus to our youth hostel and then went for dinner. We all then went to bed to get a good night's sleep before a day of sightseeing.

Day 2 Report by Tyler Collinson and Broc Doolan:

After a quick breakfast, we set out to the Queen Victoria Markets. We spent an hour shopping and practising our newly found haggling skills. A brief tour around the impressive sporting grounds in Melbourne led us to the Shrine of Remembrance in Central Melbourne. This was a humbling experience and had an awesome view of the Melbourne skyline on the balcony. For lunch, the boys went to the food court in the Midtown Plaza. Next, we went on a river tour that took us along the Yarra River that cuts through Melbourne. It had a great view of the skyscrapers in Melbourne Central.

After the boat ride, we set off back to the youth hostel. Once we got back, we were allowed to venture out into the close surrounding areas of Melbourne. Whilst walking, we noticed a variety of things, such as the apparent never ending amount of 7/11’s and the variety of shoes and clothes we only ever saw on social media. Resisting the temptation to spend all of our money on the first day, we visited many different stores, with some even wanting AUD$1,000 for a pair of shoes. With the fear of a $10 fine for lateness, we quickly made our way back to the hostel and essentially concluded our day.
