WCS won the toss and chose to bat first on a low slow pitch.  Thomas Bell set the tone from the first ball when he sent poles flying.  WCS managed to grind out a solid start, but with the dismissal of their top order, the leg spin of Fred McVerry was introduced, and he proceeded to rip through the tail.  WCS dismissed for a paltry 70.

Fred McVerry 3-4

Dan McDougall 3-16

In reply, the Year 9 Specials were never troubled in achieving the target for the loss of one wicket off 14 overs.  Max Herbert the top scorer with 37 not out.  He punished any loose bowling, but was very good at picking up singles in between his big shots.

A win to the Year 9 Specials by 9 wickets.

Good luck to the team for the junior cricket tournament in the Hawke's Bay next week.
