After winning the toss on a cold, blustery day, Bryn Wilson decided to bat first on the Lincoln Green. The opening Batsmen started well, advancing the score to 35 before the first wicket fell. As is wont to happen in this team, this was followed by the second wicket, also on 35. The next 2 batsmen fought hard, but struggled to break the shackles, before they too fell in quick succession, leaving the team on 98 for 4 in the 35th over. The opposition continued to put the squeeze on and wickets fell at regular intervals as the middle and lower order tried to accelerate the scoring. The succession of wickets made it hard to score and PNBHS were kept to 164 for 9 off their allotted overs. Max Harris scored 20, Curtis Heaphy 24 and Bryn Wilson 35.

The Christchurch batsmen came out in an aggressive mood and, despite losing a wicket in the first over, continued to flail at everything. There followed a batting display, where one player scored 110 off 62 balls, resulting in CBHS passing the score in the 20th over. All the bowlers suffered but Thomas Kirk took the 1 wicket to finish with 1 for 28 from 5 overs.

A comprehensive defeat to a thoroughly professional outfit. It can only be hoped that the PNBHS players learned from the experience.
