3rd XI Cricket Match Report
The 3rds played the 4ths on the school wicket. The 4ths won the toss and chose to bat and started quickly with very wayward bowling gifting the 4ths runs. An early run out started a procession of wickets and at 34-5, the 4ths were in trouble. A good fightback by Masroor Butt and Matua Pomare got some momentum back. Some tight bowling after drinks kept things at bay and the 4ths were dismissed for 123 in 36.5 overs. Masroor Butt 35, Camryn Caffell 3-23, Thomas Bell 2-16 and Mr Vindriis 2-22. In reply the 3rds started positively but were also losing wickets at 40-4 after 10 overs. A 43 run partnership for the 5th wicket between Lachie Avery and Jack Gordon put the 3rds back in front. Wickets continued to fall as batsmen struggled to get used to slow pace and low bounce with most struggling to get double figures. The 9th wicket fell at the end of the 34th over needing 5 to win. Opening batsman Lachie Avery kept his cool, defending the first 5 balls of the 35th over before taking a single, then dispatching the first ball of the 36th over for 4 to end 71 not out. A win to the 3rds by 1 wicket. Toor Butt 4-13 and Saim Ahmed 2-21 the pick of the bowlers for the 4ths.
