2nd XI Cricket vs United CC - Saturday 2 March

Looking for our 3rd win in a week, the 2nd XI won the toss and elected to bat. We got off to a solid start as the openers put on 112 before Charlie Justice was dismissed for 59.  Then followed a partnership between Lachie Bradford and Josh Campbell taking the score through to 185 when Lachie was adjudged lbw for 30.  Josh continued to forge ahead scoring 87 and the team were well placed to make a big score.  Contributions in the last stanza from Cooper Ryder and Ben Louden closed our innings on 269/9.

Our bowling attack started poorly, despite a wicket in the second over of the innings.  Poor line and length served up too many buffet balls allowing the batsmen to dine on boundaries as a 2nd wicket partnership formed.  At the first drinks break we found ourselves under pressure, but stern words and the introduction of spin turned the tide with Lachie Bradford (5/38) took the sting out of their batting order.  After the second drinks break, the tail was mopped up with United falling well short, being all out for 212.  A win for the 2nd XI by 57 runs.
