Thank you to Old Boy Mr. Hadleigh Parkes (2001 – 2005) who came into school and spoke at assembly this morning.  Mr. Parkes was Head Prefect of PNBHS and Head Boy of College House in 2005, and since leaving PNBHS has forged an impressive career as a professional rugby player, most recently in the Welsh international team.  Mr. Parkes was a key contributor to their Six Nations title earlier this year and we wish him all the best for the upcoming Rugby World Cup.

Mr. Parkes gave a very clear message about the importance of taking the opportunities that are available at school, in particular those that will push you out of your comfort zone.  He explained that he thoroughly enjoyed the activities he was involved in at school, but acknowledged that the opportunities to try something new once you leave school are very limited.

Mr. Parkes is a great example of the benefits of not specialising too early in terms of your sporting career; he played a very wide range of sports throughout his schooling and recognises the benefits he gained from this.
