Junior A Water Polo KAP7 Festival
The Junior A Water Polo played in the KAP7 Water Polo Festival in Taupo over
the weekend. The tournament was against a number of quality sides from
throughout the North Island.
In the round robin phase the team lost to King’s 10-8 and St Kent’s 8-5. The
team had wins against St Pat’s Town 13-4, St Peter’s Auckland 9-8, Mount
Maunganui 7-6 and Tauranga Boys’ 10-6. These results meant the team played
Tauranga Boys’ in the Bronze medal match.
The Bronze medal match against Tauranga Boys’ was incredibly tight throughout
with the lead swapping hands no less than 5 times. After regulation play the
scores were locked at 9 all so the match headed to penalties. We were very
clinical is our shots and our goalkeeper Leo Nikolaou was a wall. The team won
12-10 on penalties to claim the Bronze medal.
This tournament was a great lead up to the Junior North Island Secondary Schools tournament later in the month.
The team is Quinlan Huff, Connor McKay, Sam Moleta, Mario Moody, Jayden Nicholson, Leo Nikolaou, Alex Odom, Cole Phillips, Peter Scott and Jason Tsang.
