3rd XI Cricket Match Report

The 3rd XI played Bloomfield on Ongley Park on a typical (i.e. windy) Palmerston North day. Bloomfield won the toss and elected to bowl. Our batting started slow with 54-5 at drinks with Michael Watkins and Jack Gordan making 34 of those. After drinks the game hope returned when Cooper Ryder hit a 6 and a couple of 4s to add 24 onto the total. Camryn Caffell managed 8 fours (and a total of 50) before being run out when the two batters ended up together on the same crease. We were all out for 157 by the 38th over. A solid effort from the team.

Mehnoor Ghuman and George Simpson opened the bowling and the first wicket fell from George in the 3rd over. From there the wickets kept falling with two catches and a stumping by drinks giving Bloomfield a total of 77/6. After drinks the bowlers applied the same pressure. A stumping of their top batter and a beautiful run out throw by Thomas Bell sealed their fate with Bloomfield all out for 113 runs. Max Herbert (Wkt Keeper), Mehnoor Ghumann 2-20, George Simpson 4-18, and Fred McVerry 2-37.  A win to the 3rd XI by 44 runs.
