3rd XI Cricket v Dannevirke Sports Club

The 3rd XI travelled to Dannevirke to play the Dannevirke Sports Club. After winning the toss and electing to bat the 3rds had made a great start with Van Prenter and Sam Kennett batting past drinks, putting together an opening partnership of 64. The Dannevirke spinners made runs hard to come by and the 3rds were 83-2 off 30. With wickets in hand the score kept moving ending up 144/7 off 40 overs. Van Prenter 76, Josh Langridge 25. The 3rds knew they would still have to bowl well to defend their total and Dannevirke made a great start putting together 47 before the opening partnership was broken by a run out with some sharp glove work by Van Prenter. Spin was introduced and this slowed the scoring as it did in the first innings. 3 wickets in the 23rd over had Dannevirke at 68-4. A couple of sharp catches were taken but it wasn’t enough as Dannevirke took a leg bye to make 145/7 off 37.5 overs. A loss by 3 wickets. Mr Vindriis 3-23, Saim Ahmed, Thomas Fowell and Josh Langridge with a wicket each.
