Update from the Rector
Gerard Atkin - 2020年03月23日 Monday 17:33

Parents/Caregivers,

The Prime Minister announced at a press conference this afternoon that the country was moving to Alert Level 3 and would then move to Alert Level 4 48 hours later. As a result, schools will be closed from tomorrow to all pupils other than those who are the children of identified essential workers. Those pupils will be able to come to school tomorrow but from Wednesday all pupils will be required to stay at home until further notice. The Prime Minister talked about a period of four weeks with the holiday period being brought forward to form part of that four week 'lock-down'.

We will have more details from the Ministry of Education as the situation develops, and there will be communication sent to our community regarding work provided for our young men, both online and otherwise. In the meantime we ask that you speak with your sons about the importance of adhering to the government's Alert Level restrictions as outlined at the bottom of this email.

As many of you will be aware a number of bus services have been cancelled. For up to date information for the bus routes tomorrow, please check the following link: https://uzabus.co.nz/

For those who will need to come into school tomorrow, supervision will be provided under the recommended physical distancing and are asked to meet in the school's main quad at 9 a.m.

There will be no tracking reports for Year 11 pupils sent home this week due to the Covid-19 situation, and all Gateway/Work Experience placements have been postponed until further notice.

Our teachers will provide work for our young men for the next two weeks - please be patient as teachers prepare this work and please do not email teachers directly. If a young man has difficulties accessing a device do get in touch with the school as we may be able to offer assistance.

This is an unprecedented situation for all of us and we ask that you read your email communication carefully. The situation will be stressful for many and it is important to remember that our young men, like all of us, will be feeling vulnerable and uncertain at this time.

We will continue to update you as information comes to hand.

Kind regards

David Bovey
Rector
