1st XI Football v Northend Reserves - Saturday 15 August

PlaceMakers PNBHS 1st XI played Northend Reserves, winning 3 – 1.  As in previous games, Boys’ High started poorly, with Northend dominating both territory and possession, early in the match.  Going with this theme, the opposition team went 1 nil up, which seemed to “wake up” Boys’ High into action.  Consequently, three quick goals; one from Ryan Watson and a brace by captain, Mason Charlton, put Boys’ High firmly in the “box seat”.

In the second half, both teams had several golden opportunities, but failed in the final execution.  Brooklyn Browne, in goal for Boys’ High, made several goal-stopping saves to keep Northend goal-less, maintaining Boys’ High’s lead.  While most of the team had solid games, Brooklyn’s energy in goal certainly was the difference between the teams.  Of note, midfield player Ryan Watson, attended the NZ U17 training camp earlier in the week, which was well-deserved.

The 1st XI would like to thank our team sponsors: PlaceMakers Palmerston North and JG Residential.
