Year 11 Geography Field Trip

On Wednesday 12 August, the Year 11 Geography students went to Wellington for a field trip. The purpose of the trip was to look at some aspects of the geography of the Wellington area.

Places visited were the Hutt Valley - looking at river processes, the flood hazard, and the Wellington fault line, - the top of the Cable Car where they were given a talk by a staff member from the nearby met service, as well as looking at the Wellington Observatory. After lunch in Newtown, the last venue was the summit of Mt Victoria, which gives a 360 degree view of the city, and a great deal of information about the history and geography of Wellington on the information plaques present.

Unfortunately, due to the Level 2 lockdown conditions, the planned visit to the central city / Lampton Quay area and the ride on the cable car could not take place this year.

The students enjoyed the day and the opportunity to learn geography in the real world.
