Congratulations to Zac Maskill (Year 13), Noah Purcell (Year 11) and Jake Maskill (Year 9), who are part of hip hop dance group Alpha and were named DanceNZmade North Island Exchange champions at the weekend.  The DanceNZmade North Island Exchange is an open competition for dance studios throughout the North Island.  Alpha’s victory in this competition is a continuation of a very successful year for them which has included winning the Palmerston North Dance Association competition, the Taupō Dance competition, Manawatū Performing Arts Society competition and placing first in the lower North Island at the Hip Hop International competition, among a number of others.  The group also placed seventh at Hip Hop Unite, the premier Hip Hop dance competition in New Zealand, narrowly missing out on selection to compete internationally.  Zac is the Dance captain for 2020, an experience he has thoroughly enjoyed.  In 2021 Zac is remaining in Palmerston North so that he can continue to dance with Alpha and compete in a number of competitions that were cancelled in 2020 because of COVID-19.
