A Message from the Head Prefect

"On Friday at assembly you heard from one of our Old Boys, Max Currie, who has gone on to do some fantastic things in the film industry in New Zealand. While that is notable in itself, his message was much greater than just his own achievements. He emphasised the importance of accepting people for who they are, and recognising and respecting the differences between us. That's an important message for us all.

Yesterday we had a leadership seminar with the Prefects from Girls' High. As part of that we were asked to identify an historical leader we admired and to explain the values they exhibited. Without fail, the leaders that were identified showed compassion, consideration and empathy towards others and had the courage to stand up and do the right thing in a range of different contexts.

We have the opportunity to be the leaders of our generation. Let's take this opportunity now to all lead with compassion, consideration and empathy in our interactions with each other - after all, we are all part of the same brotherhood.

I have been asked to remind any of you who might need to reach out to someone to speak to, that the school Guidance Counsellors are available."
