As part of a New Zealand Studies focus on 19th Century New Zealand, the group travelled through the Whanganui and South Taranaki districts, stopping at sites relating to early Maori settlement, the role of the Whanganui River, the Land Wars involving Te Mamaku and Titokowaru, development of European settlements and economy. Our trip involved visits to Cameron Blockhouse, Pakaitore, Durie Hill, Maxwell, Patea River mouth, Aotea Utanganui Museum, Tawhiti Museum and the sites of Turuturu Mokai Pa and Turuturu Mokai Redoubt.
