The 1st XI Hockey Match played their first game of the Intercity Competition last night against Waiopehu College. The 1st XI played some structured hockey in the first quarter with some early season rust meaning many scoring opportunities went begging. However, Blake Rhodes-Robinson managed to score his first for the game, closely followed by a goal for Zach Carline before the quarter break.

The second quarter was played in much of the same vein, with PNBHS starting to look threatening on attack. Perry Smith, Joshua Smit and Zach Carline all scored again, taking the score to 5 – 0 at the half-time break.
The 1st XI was instructed to play some more attacking hockey in the second half. Waiopehu managed to withstand some pressure on their goal before Ben Havord scored from a penalty corner. This was followed by a Hael Pritchard goal, his first of the match.

The floodgates opened somewhat in the final quarter of the match, with six further goals being scored. These went to Hael Pritchard (2), Connor Managh, Ban Havord, Riley Theobald, Zach Carline. The match's final score was 13 – 0 in an excellent first-up performance by the PNBHS 1st XI.
