The 1st XI Hockey Team played Feilding High School as part of the Intercity Secondary School Competition yesterday.
The match started well, with the 1st XI dominating much of the play. Blake Rhodes-Robinson opened the scoring after some pleasing team play. This goal was followed by a Ben Havord penalty corner goal ricocheting off a defenders stick.
Leading 2-0 at the first quarter, the 1st XI dropped their standards and struggled to execute their game plan. This made for a frustrating period of play as the 1st XI held possession in Feildings half but could not convert these into goals.
Zach Carline finally managed to find the net in the final quarter with an outstanding individual goal. The final result was a 3 -0 win to the 1st XI in a rather lacklustre performance.
Josh Campbell and Macca Williams played a very composed match in defence.
