The PNBHS 1st XI Hockey Team played Taradale on Tuesday morning in what would be their third Bartholomew Cup defence in a week. PNBHS made a positive start to the match by holding possession of the ball for long periods. This possession gave our defenders and defensive midfielder plenty of opportunity to establish themselves in the game, despite Taradale's efforts to press them.
Despite the possession and positive hockey, PNBHS were frustrated by the Taradale goalkeeper, who made a string of impressive saves in the first quarter. This prowess, paired with quality circle defence from Taradale, kept the quarter goalless.
PNBHS finally broke the deadlock in the second quarter with an impressive solo goal from Zac Carline. A penalty stroke goal to Hael Pritchard followed shortly after.
Gradually PNBHS grew more aggressive. The third and fourth quarter goals to Blake Rhodes-Robinson and Will Roberts followed. PNBHS won the match 4-0.
