Applications to be the Youth MP to represent Palmerston North in Youth Parliament 2022 are now open.

The next Youth Parliament will occur next year, with Youth MPs participating in a 6-month programme from 1 March to 31 August. This tenure includes a two-day Youth Parliament event in Wellington on 19 and 20 July.

The Youth Parliament programme gives young people the opportunity to understand and be a part of the Parliamentary process and connect with their communities. It will be a significant opportunity for up to 120 young New Zealanders to gather the views of their peers and bring young peoples’ voice to Parliament.

Every Member of Parliament will select a Youth MP to represent their community. The MP for Palmerston North, Tangi Utikere, is seeking applications from interested students.

Further information is attached at the bottom of this article and can be found on the New Zealand Parliament website.

To apply: Please send a 3-minute video or a written essay to palmerston.north@parliament.govt.nz. Introduce yourself, tell Mr. Utikere what you’re passionate about, and what you’d advocate for at Youth Parliament.
