CRICKET REPORT: PNBHS 1ST XI VS Marist CC – 06/11/21

With Marist Batting first, the PNBHS opening bowlers were immaculate with their lines and lengths. This stifled the scoring, limiting the opposition to 28 for 2 in the 13th over. The change bowlers then let the reins slip, bowling too many boundary balls and allowing the Marist batsmen to score freely in the middle overs. The fielders made up for this, however, with 2 run outs and when the death overs came about, the bowlers were allowed to cash in with 5 wickets for 32 runs in the last 10. The opposition was bowled out in the 49th over for 184. Jonty Fleck took 3 for 47 and Lachie Bradford 3 for 18.

The PNBHS batting effort started well, with the openers being particularly harsh on anything loose. When the Marist bowlers tightened up, the batsmen kept ticking the score over, making sure that the required rate did not balloon. At 77 for 3 in the 23rd over, Curtis Heaphy and Jonty Fleck came together and forged a partnership of 90 to put the game beyond reach and allow Mr Davidson to administer the last rites. The 1st XI scored 186 for 4 to win the match by 6 wickets. Jonty Fleck scored 37, Bayley Latter 49 and Curtis Heaphy 52 not out.
