Cricket report – PNBHS 1st XI vs Auckland Grammar School – 3 Day Traditional – 8/03/22 - Day 3
Day 3 started in Auckland sunshine with the PNBHS batsmen needing to bat for the 3 hours and 50 minutes of play available to them. The loss of 2 early wickets immediately swung the game away from us, however, J Meyer and E Campbell took the innings close to the lunch break before a collapse of 4 quick wickets. At lunch we were 85/7, needing to bat for a further 80 minutes. The loss of a wicket first ball after lunch placed real pressure on the tail-enders. The batsmen at the crease each chose an end they were comfortable at and dug their heals in. J Duker 0 from 79 deliveries, F Mc Verry 5* from 92 deliveries, and E Robinson 2* from 27 deliveries managed to see out the time and secure a draw, allowing PNBHS to retain the Oram Trophy.
