Race Unity Speech Competition
Thank you to Year 12
student Leo Mwape who presented his winning speech from the recent Manawatū
Regional Race Unity Speech competition at assembly this morning. This year’s theme was ‘Awhhi te Rito - Nurture
the Young’ and Leo’s speech centred on a forest metaphor – in a forest young
trees grow up to replace the older trees and we see similar in society where
young people are nurtured to be the next generation of adults.
After winning the
regional competition Leo will now go on to compete in the national final in
Auckland on June 17 and 18 and we wish him all the best for this. This will be Leo’s second involvement in the
national finals after also winning the regional event in 2022.
